Manuel Turizo
Manuel Turizo played Starlite Occident Madrid on Sunday, December 17, 2023, his only concert in Spain that Christmas. It was another sell-out night of the first edition.
His only Christmas concert in Spain
Manuel Turizo’s confirmation came in October 2023, when the line-up of the first edition already featured Rod Stewart, Sting, Carlos Rivera and Sebastián Yatra. His date on Sunday, December 17 was billed as his only concert in Spain that Christmas, in an auditorium with a limited capacity compared with the big arenas. The Colombian arrived in Madrid with “2000”, his latest album, and with “La Bachata” established as one of the most streamed songs in the world. Since opening its doors, the edition had sold out night after night, and Turizo’s was no exception.
Merengue and bachata to finish
The concert ran through his urban and Latin repertoire, ending with a merengue and bachata finale that had the whole auditorium dancing. The set included “La Bachata”, “Quiéreme Mientras Se Pueda”, “Esperándote”, “Copa Vacía”, “Amor en coma”, “Vagabundo”, “Una vaina loca” and “El Merengue”. Turizo made his debut in 2016, aged 16, with “Una Lady Como Tú”, produced with his brother Julián, and has since collaborated with artists such as Shakira, Rauw Alejandro, Piso 21, Sebastián Yatra, Ozuna and Nicky Jam. On stage he looked back on those beginnings with his fans: “2016, together with my brother, was the year of our lives, the year you turned our song into the most listened-to Latin hit, you made us number 1. Thank you.” He said goodbye promising to return in 2024.
The Casas family in the audience
Among those attending were Paula Echevarría, Esther Cañadas, Cayetano Rivera, Anne Igartiburu, Desiré Cordero, Mónica Hoyos, Estela Grande, Mike Fajardo, Lidia Bedman, Lorena Durán, Verónica Hidalgo and Balthazar Gravier. The whole Casas family also came along: Mario, Óscar, Sheila and Christian, accompanied by Michelle Calvó and María Pérez, who share the same talent agency. Sunday night followed the format of the whole edition: a concert in the indoor auditorium, a food offering with three-Michelin-star proposals in the boxes, a restaurant and food trucks, and an after party in the lounge area.
Manuel Turizo left Starlite Occident Madrid with a promise to return and with another sell-out night of the first edition in the capital.
