Alejandro Fernandez

Date: 12 DecVenue: Madrid

Alejandro Fernández performed on Thursday, December 12, 2024 at Starlite Occident Madrid. His concert was the first of the festival’s second Christmas edition in the Spanish capital, a season that ran until December 31.

Opening night of the second edition

Alejandro Fernández was one of the first names confirmed for the 2024 line-up and the artist chosen to open the second edition of Starlite Occident Madrid on Thursday, December 12. His concert was already part of the edition’s announcement in early October, alongside Camilo’s dates, when the organisers unveiled a longer season than in 2023: twenty days of programming, from December 12 to 31, with more concerts and a venue twice the size of the first edition. The Mexican singer, heir to one of the great dynasties of ranchera music and with a career that moves between mariachi and pop ballads, was therefore the one to inaugurate the indoor auditorium of the winter season in the capital.

An auditorium with sound aimed at every seat

The concert took place in the auditorium built by Starlite Occident Madrid for its winter season, fitted with the HOLOPLOT audio system, which lets the whole audience, wherever they sit, hear with the same quality and at the same volume. For the first edition, the organisers had built in just twelve days the largest auditorium in Madrid by capacity after the WiZink; in 2024 the venue grew to twice the space. Around the concerts, the offering included the festival’s own restaurants (Tanabata, Nikkei cuisine; Raffaella, an Italian trattoria; Ánima, Mexican), a Food Hall with stalls and food trucks, Christmas shopping and a box area with a gourmet proposal from 7 pm. According to the organisers, the return to Madrid created more than 1,000 jobs.

The line-up of the 2024 Christmas season

After Alejandro Fernández, the Starlite Occident Madrid 2024 programme continued with Vanesa Martín (December 13), Niña Pastori (14), Il Divo (15), Grupo Frontera (17), Black Eyed Peas (18), Camilo (20 and 21), Mau y Ricky (21, on the lounge stage), Clean Bandit (22), Isabel Pantoja (26), Taburete (27) and Estopa (28). DJ Nano headlined the after parties on Fridays 20 and 27, and the edition closed on December 31 with the festival’s first New Year’s Eve party in Madrid: a Hombres G concert, an after party with Juan Magán, the traditional grapes and a cotillion until six in the morning. A line-up that mixed Latin artists, Spanish pop and international names, in the spirit of the summer festival in Marbella from which the Madrid event was born.

Alejandro Fernández’s concert opened the Starlite Occident Madrid 2024 calendar and kicked off the festival’s longest Christmas season in the capital up to that point.
