Taburete
Taburete performed at Starlite Occident Madrid on Friday, December 27, 2024. The Madrid band chose the second Christmas edition of the festival in the capital to celebrate the end of its 2024 tour, after a year of concerts across Spain, Latin America and the United States.
Closing the tour at home
Taburete’s date was announced on October 8, 2024, together with Black Eyed Peas, in one of the first line-up releases. The group was coming to the end of a year on the road across Spain, Latin America and the United States, and framed the Madrid concert as a special farewell: a set running from its signature songs to the new tracks that had marked the year, with a stage production prepared for the occasion. “It has been an incredible year, and we want to thank our fans with an unforgettable night in Madrid,” Willy Bárcenas said in the announcement. “This concert is a celebration of all the support we have received, and we are preparing a send-off that will live up to the occasion.”
“Matadero 5” and the big hits
The set announced for the night combined the songs of “Matadero 5”, the band’s latest album, with the hits that Willy Bárcenas and Antón Carreño’s group has built up since its early days. Taburete has carved out a place of its own in Spanish pop with a guitar-driven sound and choruses made for singing together, and a live show that has grown from clubs to large venues. Its concert fell in the last week of the edition, the day after Isabel Pantoja’s 50th-anniversary show and the eve of Estopa’s last concert of the year, in an indoor auditorium with a sound system that carries the same quality to every seat.
DJ Nano after party
After the concert, the night went on at Starlite Sessions with DJ Nano, who headlined the after parties on Fridays December 20 and 27. The Madrid DJ, with more than 25 years behind the decks, ran through the most iconic tracks and melodies in the history of Spanish dance music, the format he takes to festivals and clubs in Spain and abroad. Four days later, on December 31, the festival held its first New Year’s Eve in Madrid, with Hombres G and Juan Magán. The 2024 edition, twenty days long and in a venue twice the size of 2023, combined the concerts with in-house restaurants, a Food Hall and Christmas shopping.
Taburete’s tour finale at Starlite Occident Madrid closed the band’s year in its own city, in the home stretch of the second Christmas edition.
