Emmanuel y Mijares
Emmanuel and Mijares gave their first concert in Spain at Starlite Occident Madrid on December 20, 2025. Neither had ever performed in the country, together or solo, and they brought their joint project Two'r Amigos to the capital as part of the festival's third Christmas edition.
Two'r Amigos arrives in Spain
Emmanuel and Mijares are two of the biggest names in Mexican music, with decades of career behind them and an audience that spans generations. Until this date they had never performed in Spain, which made the night at Starlite Occident Madrid a milestone for Spanish-language music in the country. The duo presented the essence of Two'r Amigos, the project they have shared since 2013 and which has clocked up more than 80 concerts at Mexico City's Auditorio Nacional over more than twelve years. The night began with both artists on stage together, and the opening chords of "Bella Señora" and "Bella" filled the auditorium in front of a visibly moved crowd.
Two careers and an improvised song
Throughout the concert each singer revisited his solo career: the audience heard "Tan Solo" by Mijares and "Rey Azul" by Emmanuel. One of the most celebrated moments came when the two sat down together in an acoustic format for "No hace falta" and "Rompecabezas". There was also an unexpected gift: Emmanuel and Mijares improvised "Madrid, Madrid, Madrid" live, a spontaneous performance they admitted they had never rehearsed. The show closed with "Toda la vida", which brought the auditorium to its feet and sent the duo off with a long ovation. Among the guests were singer Antonio Carmona, journalist and writer Irene Villa, singer-songwriter Hernaldo Zúñiga with his family, Mexico national team coach Javier Aguirre and interior designer Renée Domingo.
Two careers recognised by the Latin Academy
Both artists have been recognised by the Latin Recording Academy. Mijares received the Musical Excellence Award in Seville during Latin Grammy Week 2023, presented to him by Emmanuel himself, and Emmanuel had been given the same award in 2021. The evening went down as a historic date: their first and only concert in Spain. The festival ran until December 23 with concerts, restaurants, a Christmas market and after parties at Starlite Sessions; the following night belonged to Puerto Rican singer Gilberto Santa Rosa, who would sell out the auditorium with his own fifty-year songbook.
Emmanuel and Mijares made their Spanish debut at Starlite Occident Madrid, one of the defining nights of the festival's third Christmas edition in the capital.
