Miguel Poveda
Miguel Poveda made his Starlite Occident Madrid debut on December 19, 2025, during the festival's third Christmas edition in the Spanish capital. He presented "El árbol de la alegría", the show built around his new album, and the night carried on at Starlite Sessions with the Madrid Connection party.
A Christmas recital with flamenco roots
Miguel Poveda arrived at Starlite Occident Madrid with "El árbol de la alegría", an intimate show tied to his new record, which the singer himself describes as "much more than a Christmas carol album". It was his first appearance at the Madrid edition of the festival, and he chose it to present the project in the capital as part of a programme designed for the holiday season. Backed by the guitar and musical production of Jesús Guerrero, Poveda mixed new compositions with traditional carols and reworked classics, weaving in memories of his childhood in Badalona. The result was a journey that approaches tradition from a personal angle and goes well beyond the usual carol format. The show opened with "Camino de Egipto" and continued with pieces as familiar as "Los Campanilleros".
Singing among the audience
The closest moment of the night came when Poveda stepped off the stage to sing "Fuera las penas" and "Portal de Oriente" among the audience. The gesture underlined the collective spirit of a concert experienced as a shared celebration, with memory and togetherness as its thread. Familiar faces in the auditorium included actor Adrián Lastra with Claudia Dobrescu, singer Geraldine Larrosa and content creator Andrea Compton. It was an intimate recital, full of sensitivity, that wrapped the audience in the Christmas spirit.
The night went on at Starlite Sessions
After the concert, the evening moved to the Starlite Sessions stage for the Madrid Connection party. With DJs from the capital at the decks and reggaeton as the soundtrack, the space stayed full until the early hours. Poveda's date fell in the final stretch of the third edition of Starlite Occident Madrid, which ran until December 23 with concerts, restaurants, a Christmas market and after parties. The following night, Mexican duo Emmanuel and Mijares took over with their first ever concert in Spain, and Poveda's show remained one of the most Christmassy nights of the season.
Miguel Poveda brought his own idea of Christmas to Starlite Occident Madrid: flamenco, carols and a singer who walks down to the stalls to sing with his audience.
