ARCHIVE/Marbella 2022
Ana Torroja
Ana Torroja performed at Starlite Occident Marbella on July 28, 2022 with a concert that covered the songs of Mecano, the band she fronted for twenty years, and those of her solo career.
"A journey through the past, but also the present"
"Good evening, Starlite Occident! At last I can see your faces. Tonight we will take a journey through the past, but also through the present, and I want you to feel at home", the Madrid-born singer said as she came on stage. She also spoke about the line-up of that eleventh edition: "It is an honour for me to be here, among a cast of incredible artists. Starlite Occident is one of those places where you always want to be." Between songs she had a few words for the festival's founder: "Thank you, Sandra, for such an incredible night, for inviting me to this party of yours. Thank you from the heart."
From "El cine" to "Me colé en una fiesta"
She opened with "El cine" and made room for songs from her solo years, with which she has sold millions of records in Spain and Latin America: "A contratiempo", "Ya no te quiero", "Hora y cuarto" and "Sonrisa". For the final stretch she kept the Mecano songs the audience was waiting for: "Hijo de la luna", "Mujer contra mujer", "Hoy no me puedo levantar" and "Me colé en una fiesta".
Chema Rivas at Espacio Sessions
Among those attending was Javier Guillén, director of the Vuelta a España. After the concert, the music continued at Espacio Sessions with Chema Rivas. The 21-year-old from Málaga was performing for the second time that edition, following his show on June 18, with a set of urban songs.
Ana Torroja split the night between Mecano's songs and her own, and the Starlite Occident Marbella audience sang along to both.
