Café Quijano
Café Quijano performed at Starlite Occident Marbella on August 21, 2022. The band from León presented "Manhattan", their latest album, and went back over the songs of a career spanning more than twenty years.
"Manhattan", a return to their roots
"Everyone knows Starlite Occident is different in every way. It's a festival that means a lot to artists and where we all want to be. For us it's a source of pride and we experience it with special emotion," the group said before walking out at the Auditorium. The Quijano brothers, who in 2000 became the first Spanish group nominated for an American Grammy, arrived with nine studio albums. "Manhattan" brings back the rakish, tavern style of their early days, which they had set aside in 2012 to move towards bolero.
From "La jamaicana" to "La taberna del Buda"
From the new album came "La jamaicana", "Mi Melancolía" and "Alma negra", which the audience already knew. The long-time favourites included "Perdonarme", which the band has recorded with Taburete, "La Lola" and "Desde Brasil", with the stands on their feet. The ending was reserved for "La taberna del Buda", their most international song, a hit since 1999, which the Quijanos led from the stage amid singing and dancing.
Café Quijano ended their night at Starlite Occident Marbella where it all began for them: with "La taberna del Buda" and the whole Auditorium singing along.
