ARCHIVE/Marbella 2022

Christina Aguilera

Date: 25 JulVenue: Marbella

Christina Aguilera performed at Starlite Occident Marbella for the first time on July 25, 2022. More than 18 years had passed since her last concert in Spain, and she chose the Auditorium to meet her audience again.

More than 18 years without performing in Spain

The American singer was greeted with an ovation as soon as she stepped onto the stage at La Cantera. She presented "La Fuerza", an album sung entirely in Spanish in which she embraces her Latin roots, and moved from song to song in a show where the lyrics carried real weight. As she said goodbye she addressed the crowd: "It has been an incredible journey to come here tonight and see your beautiful faces, thank you for always giving me everything I need."

"Say Something" and a message for the audience

Before performing "Say Something", the artist explained where the song came from: "The world is a crazy place right now, but to bring some light, we are all looking for some hope, a prayer to be answered, and this song came to me at a time when I was doing some soul-searching." She dedicated it to loved ones and to those who care for others, and added: "If I can give you one message tonight, it is to love yourselves and to love others."

From "Genie in a Bottle" to "Fighter"

"Genie in a Bottle" and "What a Girl Wants" were both in the set, the songs that took her to number one and part of a career with more than 43 million records sold. More recent tracks such as "Pa mis Muchachas" and "Feel This Moment" had the Auditorium on its feet, and the finale came with "Lady Marmalade" and "Fighter". In the audience were sisters Paulina and Victoria Swarovski, Bárbara and Nicole Kimpel, actor Alejandro Nones, Samantha Ballentines, Estrella Xtravaganza, Marlene Mourreau and singer Roko, who watched the concert with Sandra García-Sanjuán from the presidential box.

It took Christina Aguilera almost two decades to sing in Spain again, and when she did it was at Starlite Occident Marbella, with an album in Spanish to present.
