ARCHIVE/Marbella 2022
Dani Martín
Dani Martín played two consecutive nights at Starlite Occident Marbella, on August 23 and August 24, 2022, both sold out, with a set that covered his whole career, from El Canto del Loco to "No, no vuelve".
Two nights and a career-spanning set
Demand for his return to the Auditorium led to two dates in the festival's eleventh edition. Both began with "La suerte de mi vida", a thank-you to those who have followed him since his first band; on the first night, in an acoustic version. The concert was meant to present "No, no vuelve", his latest album, but the Madrid singer chose to go through his whole career and bring back, in reworked versions, El Canto del Loco songs such as "Volverá", "Puede ser" and "Peter Pan". The first night ended with "Insoportable"; the second, with "Zapatillas" and "Insoportable".
Rocío and Irene, two guests on stage
On the first night he brought up Rocío, a fan who had spent four years going to his concerts with a sign asking him for a hug. On the second it was eleven-year-old Irene: "There's someone at this concert who is giving absolutely everything, knows every song and deserves to come up on stage." When he asked where she was from, she answered "I'm from Andalusia", and the singer applauded it: "She didn't say Córdoba, Jaén or Seville! Unity is strength; let's see if we adults learn."
"Live every day as if it were the last"
"Thank you very much, Starlite Occident; it's an honour that you're enjoying this night with me. Enjoy it, and live every day as if it were the last," he said as he left on the 23rd. On the 24th he asked for applause for the festival team, "who have made us feel at home these two days", and thanked Sandra and Ignacio. "Every day I feel luckier to have what I have and be who I am [...] I've spent 22 years enjoying myself and doing what I want… Long live life!" That second night the audience included Victoria Federica and Froilán de Marichalar, Amaia Salamanca and Rosauro Varo, Valeria Mazza and Alejandro Gravier, Olivia de Borbón and Julián Porras, Fernando Martínez de Irujo, Diana Swarovski, Lara Dibildos and Susana Alba, singer of Efecto Mariposa. After the first concert, Juan Magán played a set at the Sessions area.
Two dates, two full houses and two fans on stage: that was Dani Martín's 2022 at Starlite Occident Marbella.
