Diana Krall
Diana Krall performed at Starlite Occident Marbella on July 30, 2022, returning to the Auditorium after her 2019 concert with an hour and a half of jazz at the piano, in a quartet format.
Back at the Auditorium three years later
"I am so happy to be here again and to play… it is an honour and I am very grateful", the Canadian singer and pianist said moments before going on stage. She was joined by guitarist Anthony Wilson, Robert Hurst on double bass and Karriem Riggins on drums, each of whom had their own share of the spotlight throughout the concert.
Jazz standards and a finale with "L-O-V-E"
The set combined songs from her own records with standards of the genre, among them "All or Nothing at All", "Boulevard of Broken Dreams" and "I Was Doing All Right". After a run of almost whispered performances and a few more energetic passages, Krall saved "L-O-V-E", the song made popular by Nat King Cole, for the end. The audience responded with a long ovation and called for an encore.
Luz Casal and Maggie Civantos among the guests
Actress Maggie Civantos, Luján Argüelles, Luz Casal, Alejandro Nones, Agustín Bravo and India's ambassador to Spain, Dinesh Kumar, watched the concert. That same night, Paula Echevarría, Miguel Torres, Estefanía Luyk, Fiona Ferrer, Begoña and Pedro Trapote, Fernando Sanz with his daughter Valeria, Marta and Jaime Martínez Bordiú, Javier Fal-Conde, Miriam Yébenes and Jesús Gil celebrated businessman Kabir C. Sukhwani's birthday at the festival restaurant.
A piano, a quartet and a silent Auditorium: at Starlite Occident Marbella, Diana Krall repeated the formula that had already worked in 2019.
