Estrella Morente, Israel Fernandez & Kiki Morente

Date: 11 AugVenue: Marbella

Estrella Morente, Israel Fernández and Kiki Morente performed at Starlite Occident Marbella on August 11, 2022. It was the first time the three had shared a stage, in a triple flamenco bill designed exclusively for the festival.

Kiki Morente opens the night on his debut

Kiki Morente, who learned from childhood alongside his father, the master Enrique Morente, was performing at the festival for the first time and opened the evening. He sang "El cielo de la guitarra", "Lunares", "Si tú me quisieras" and "Con la música a otra parte". "For me Starlite Occident is one of the greatest things we have; I am so happy and so grateful to be able to show my music here", he said before going on. Once on stage he spoke of "a dream night with my sister and with Israel" and of how much it meant to sing "in a land of geniuses".

Israel Fernández and the guitar of Diego del Morao

Israel Fernández was also making his debut. He first became known at the age of 11 on a television talent show and is now one of the most recognised names in flamenco singing. He came accompanied by guitarist Diego del Morao, with whom he performed as a duo throughout his set. "For us it is a great joy and above all a great responsibility to be here. We truly thank the festival for letting us be together today", the singer said.

Estrella Morente closes: "It always feels like the first time"

Estrella Morente, a regular at the festival, closed the evening with "María de Buenos Aires", "Canción del Mar", "Oye" and "Volver", to shouts of "¡Guapa!" from the seats. "To be here tonight, once again, on the bill of this unique and magnificent festival… for me it always feels like the first time. As a flamenco singer, it is a dream to share a line-up with artists from other genres whom I admire and revere so much", she said. She also gave thanks for flamenco being included "once again": "It is an honour for me and I am going to sing to you from the heart".

Two Morente siblings, Israel Fernández and Diego del Morao: Starlite Occident Marbella brought three flamenco voices and one guitar together on the same stage for the first time.
