ARCHIVE/Marbella 2022
Nicky Jam
Nicky Jam performed at Starlite Occident Marbella on July 21, 2022, his third visit to the Auditorium after 2019 and 2021. The artist presented his latest album, Infinity, and spoke to the audience about his personal story.
A third visit, with DJ Bash opening
Nicky Jam had sold out both of his previous concerts at the festival. In 2019 the night was opened by Argentine artist Lali and in 2021 by Puerto Rican DJ Valentino; in 2022 it was DJ Bash who warmed up the crowd. The singer then came on with "Te robaré", "Me voy pal party", "Voy a beber" and "Hasta el amanecer". Wrapped in a Spanish flag, he addressed the audience: "In my country, we wear the flag around our neck because it is pride, we represent it. So I am from Spain, I am yours".
"My legacy is my story"
Midway through the concert, Nicky Jam opened up to the audience: "I have been clean of drugs for eleven years, eleven years clean of addiction. People think my legacy is the Grammys, the songs… my legacy is my story. If you are going through a difficult time, look at where I came from". He added a message of encouragement: "If Nicky Jam did it, and there is nobody crazier than Nicky Jam, believe me, anyone can do it. Everything is possible". The artist also spoke about his faith, to which he attributes his return to the top of the music world.
"El perdón", "Travesuras" and Lérica at Sessions
The set included "Juegos prohibidos" and "El perdón", his collaboration with Enrique Iglesias and one of the most awaited songs of the night. "Travesuras" closed the concert. Afterwards the music continued in the Sessions space with Lérica, the duo from Cádiz. The audience included actor Alejandro Nones, TV presenter Luján Argüelles and Alba Díaz.
Nicky Jam added his third concert in four summers at Starlite Occident Marbella, and this time he left, along with the songs, the story of how he got to them.
