Nile Rodgers & CHIC performed at Starlite Occident Marbella for the first time on July 19, 2022. The New York composer, producer and guitarist turned the Auditorium into a dance floor with the disco sound of the late seventies.

First time in the quarry

Dressed in white, as usual, Nile Rodgers arrived in Marbella with CHIC, the group he co-founded. After the first few songs he spoke about the venue: "This place is incredible. The stage has a lot of power and the acoustics are amazing, a dream for any musician". "This is a party" is one of the phrases he repeats most on stage, and the concert lived up to it before an audience spanning several generations.

"Le Freak", "We Are Family" and "Get Lucky"

The songs followed one another almost without a break, all of them familiar to the crowd. "We Are Family" and "Get Lucky", which earned a very long ovation, were among the most sung, and with "Le Freak" the whole Auditorium ended up dancing an improvised choreography. As well as being a composer and musician, Rodgers has boosted the careers of artists such as Madonna and David Bowie, and his name is tied to the New York of Studio 54. His farewell, after the encore, was a "see you later". The audience included Marilia Andrés of Ella Baila Sola, who watched from the Presidential Box with Sandra García-Sanjuán and Ignacio Maluquer.

Nile Rodgers & CHIC made their Starlite Occident Marbella debut with the quarry's acoustics as a discovery and a farewell that left the door open to return.
