ARCHIVE/Marbella 2022
Raphael
Raphael performed at Starlite Occident Marbella on August 10, 2022, with a two-hour concert that looked back over his 60-year career. The artist has been linked to the festival since before its first edition.
Sixty years of career in two hours
The singer from Linares walked through his career with a selection that balanced his best-known classics with some more recent material, backed by an orchestra and in front of a full Auditorium. "Mi gran noche", "No puedo arrancarte de mí", "Resistiré" and "Qué sabe nadie" were all played, and the audience sang "Yo soy aquel" and "Escándalo" along with him. Raphael moved around the quarry stage with the gestures and choreography that have long been his trademark.
"I have been part of this family from the start"
In 2012, before the festival existed, Raphael took part in the press conference at which it was presented to the media. Ten years later he recalled it from the stage: "It is an enormous joy to be at Starlite Occident one more year. I have been part of this family from the beginning, from the first edition, and I have been coming happily ever since… and there are more to come!". The audience included Jokin Aperribay, president of Real Sociedad, Manolo Lama, Miguel Poveda, Carmen Lomana, Fernando Martínez de Irujo, Marta Martínez-Bordiú, Begoña Trapote and Raúl Sender.
The night continued with Juan Magán
After the concert, the music carried on in the Sessions area with a sold-out set by Juan Magán. He was due to return to the festival on August 16 and 23 and on September 3, the final day of the eleventh edition.
Raphael was at the presentation of Starlite Occident Marbella before the first concert was ever held, and a decade later he is still counting the editions ahead of him.
