Gipsy Kings
Gipsy Kings ft. Nicolas Reyes revolutionised with their energy the Starlite Occident Marbella Auditorium on July 8, 2023, bringing 25 years of Gypsy rumba and pop to the boutique festival.
The band that internationalised Gypsy rumba at the cantera
Starlite Occident Marbella vibrated to flamenco rumba when the acclaimed Gipsy Kings alongside Nicolas Reyes took its iconic Auditorium in their first concert on this great stage. Twenty-five years after the launch of their legendary debut album, the group still captivates the world with their unmistakable fusion of traditional flamenco, Western pop and Latin rhythms. Their first record became gold and platinum worldwide, selling nearly twenty million albums throughout their career while maintaining the same lineup of virtuoso musicians.
Savor Flamenco: Bamboleo, Volare and A Mi Manera
With timeless hits like "Volare", "Bamboleo", "A Mi Manera" and "Djobi Djoba", the Gipsy Kings arrived at the boutique festival with "Savor Flamenco", their ninth studio album and first release in six years. They took total control producing themselves. The Reyes' music incorporated Latin, Cuban, Arabic, reggae and jazz guitar elements reminiscent of French Gypsy master Django Reinhardt. However, they have never lost their intense connection with traditional flamenco, maintaining focus on Tonino Baliardo's fluid guitar work and Nicolás Reyes' powerful voice.
Marcos Alonso, Susanna Griso and a birthday at Loft
From the first instant the Auditorium stood up. A special connection was established between artists and spectators: every person present knew the lyrics. The concert became a generational party. Among the audience, big fans like FC Barcelona player Marcos Alonso, presenter Susanna Griso and twins Nicole and Barbara Kimpel. Ingrid Asensio celebrated her birthday at the Loft surrounded by Fernando Sanz and her daughter Ingrid; former footballers Joaquín Sánchez and Fernando Hierro with Fani Stipkovic; influencer Lidia Bedman; and Miss Spain Vania Millán.
With Gipsy Kings, Starlite Occident Marbella reaffirms its Auditorium as the international home of the Gypsy rumba kings, where 25 years on their sound continues to connect with generations around the world.
