ARCHIVE/Marbella 2023
Raphael
Raphael celebrated 60 years of hits at Starlite Occident Marbella on August 24, 2023, presenting 'Victoria', the album entirely composed by Pablo López.
Sixth visit of the Divo of Linares to the cantera
Raphael's unmistakable voice power took the Starlite Occident Marbella stage. Nicknamed "La voz", "El más grande", "La cátedra intergeneracional" and "El jefe indie", Raphael is a living legend. "I always remember great nights here at Starlite Occident," he said. He participated in the festival's press launch in 2012 before it existed, and since then has performed six times at its emblematic Auditorium. He holds 326 Gold and 49 Platinum records, plus being the only Spanish-speaking singer to receive the Uranium disc for sales over 50 million copies.
Victoria composed by Pablo López: Mariposa and Lo saben mis zapatos
Raphael presented "Victoria", his new album written and produced by Pablo López, who performed twice that same edition. Raphael confessed to having fallen for López's talent when he heard him play piano. "Victoria is a wonderful record. I say latest for now, you have to be careful what you say". The conceptual album includes "De tanta gente", "Para seguir en pie" and "A punto de besarte". Plus, Victoria offers magnificent reinterpretations of Pablo López hits: "Mariposa" and "Lo saben mis zapatos", which didn't miss the Marbella repertoire.
Mi Gran Noche, Escándalo and the eternal classics
The audience enjoyed Raphael songbook classics: "Mi Gran Noche", "Se nos rompió el amor", "Estar enamorado" and "Como yo te amo". "Yo soy aquel" and "Escándalo" were sung in chorus too. With his usual charisma, Raphael moved across the cantera with grace. "I've never sought to look like anyone, or be like anyone. I'm me, and that's the best thing that could happen to me," he said in interview. Among admirers, his son Manuel Martos with Amelia Bono, and Loreto Sesma and Begoña Trapote. After the concert, Juan Magán closed the night at Sessions.
With Raphael, Starlite Occident Marbella confirms its Auditorium as the eternal home of the Divo of Linares, who has made the festival one of his most beloved dates to celebrate each new project with his audience.
