Víctor Manuel
Víctor Manuel celebrated his 75th anniversary at Starlite Occident Marbella on August 26, 2023, with his 'La Vida En Canciones - El escenario todo lo cura' tour, a journey through more than 50 years of career.
Third visit of the Asturian singer-songwriter to the cantera
If there is one singer-songwriter who has written much of our country's history, it's Víctor Manuel. "I was here with Ana Belén eight years ago, and with very dear friends Serrat and Miguel Ríos almost seven years ago. Here I am again solo. Thanks for so much love, Starlite Occident". The Asturian had visited in 2015 with Ana Belén and in 2016 with "El Gusto es nuestro". "The other day I got a review that I had sung here in Marbella for the first time 50 years ago, at Hotel Don Pepe. 50 years. I remember it perfectly".
Ay amor, Asturias and Soy un corazón tendido al sol
The Asturian performed songs like "Quiero abrazarte tanto", "Solo pienso en ti", "El Cobarde", "Ay Amor", "Soy un corazón tendido al sol" and "Asturias". His songbook is boundless: "El abuelo Vítor", "La planta 14", "Canción pequeña", "La madre" and "Nada sabe tan dulce como su boca". With "Ay amor" he hit the right note. In 1983 he recorded with Ana Belén "Víctor y Ana en vivo". In 1986 they released "Para la ternura siempre hay tiempo" with "La puerta de Alcalá". In the 90s the tours "Mucho más que dos" and "El gusto es nuestro" with Ana Belén, Miguel Ríos and Serrat won the Premio Ondas.
Marina San José and Funzo & Baby Loud at Sessions
Familiar faces in the audience: Paula Echevarría, Pedro J. Ramírez and Cruz Sánchez de Lara, Fernando Martínez de Irujo, Héctor de Miguel and producer Monika Bacardi. His son David San José joined him on stage, and his daughter Marina San José watched from the box. To her he dedicated "Nada nuevo bajo el sol", a song specially composed for her after Marina asked for a more contemporary song. After the concert, Funzo & Baby Loud, the Alicante duo of young talents, closed the night at Sessions with their trap and modern Latin rhythms.
With Víctor Manuel, Starlite Occident Marbella reaffirms its Auditorium as home to the most historic Spanish singer-songwriter tradition, where the great names celebrate their anniversaries before the audience that has grown with their songs.
