Zaz brought French chanson to Starlite Occident Marbella on August 7, 2023, presenting 'Isa', her latest album composed during the lockdown with a collaboration from Pablo Alborán.
The voice updating French chanson
France was the protagonist of the night with Zaz's gifted voice, an artist who has taken French chanson around the world, updating one of the most historic genres of our neighbouring country. Zaz is the leading representative of the genre both inside and outside France, as shown by her five million records sold. She spent her childhood in Tours, where at 6 she started studying music at the Conservatoire. At 15 she moved to Bordeaux. Her self-titled 2010 debut was a revelation: an extraordinary voice with songs close to jazz, gypsy folk and French chanson. "Being in Spain moves me because I spent summers here as a child. When I come back, I feel at home".
Isa: the lockdown album with Pablo Alborán
At the Auditorium, Zaz presented her latest album "Isa" —after her own name Isabelle—, composed during the spring 2020 lockdown with Pablo Alborán featuring on one of the songs. The record reflects a forced but welcome solitude, a work of art painted with felt emotions. "In my concerts I always try to return to essence and count on the five elements: air, earth, water, fire and us," the artist confessed. "This place inspires me, because beauty inspires me". The audience had the chance to enjoy and discover new facets of the artist.
Je veux, La vie en rose and Paula Echevarría turns 46
"Je veux", "On ira", "Éblouie par la nuit", "Que vendra", "La vie en rose" and her latest hit "Imagine" rang out. Zaz stepped off the stage to sing surrounded by the audience. Paula Echevarría celebrated her 46th birthday at Starlite Occident Marbella surrounded by friends and family: Miguel Torres and her daughter Daniela, Poty Castillo, Ana Antic, Ingrid Asensio and Fernando Sanz. Also enjoying the concert: model Juan Betancourt, Pedro and Begoña Trapote, Marta Martínez-Bordiú, Valeria Mazza and Alejandro Gravier. After the concert, Detlef and Raúl Pacheco delivered techno sets at Sessions.
With Zaz, Starlite Occident Marbella confirms its Auditorium as a bridge between the most authentic French chanson and a Mediterranean audience that celebrates Isabelle's unmistakable voice under the stars.
