Zucchero, one of the biggest stars of Italian music, debuted at Starlite Occident Marbella on August 5, 2023, with his great Italian blues classics under the full moon.
The godfather of Italian blues debuts at the cantera
Starlite Occident Marbella welcomed one of the biggest stars of the Italian music scene: Zucchero. With a successful career spanning more than four decades and over 60 million records sold, he is one of the brightest names in Italy. Zucchero —"sugar" in Italian— is Adelmo Fornaciari's nickname, given to him by a teacher as a child. He travelled to San Francisco where his amazing artistic journey began, taking him to work with legends like Sting, Elton John, Stevie Wonder and Luciano Pavarotti. In the 80s he achieved the unthinkable: popularising blues music in Italy.
Senza una Donna, Diamante and Baila Sexy Thing
"We're so grateful to be here! After so many shows in northern Italy, we couldn't wait to come to Starlite Occident in Marbella!" the Italian said. "Sorry if I sing in Italian, tonight music will speak". The repertoire included new songs and classic hits: "Senza una donna", "Diavolo in me", "Diamante" and the contagious "Baila (Sexy thing)" rang in the Auditorium. "I'd like to dispel the cliché that Italian music is always about love or missing someone. I look more like an Irish presenter selling beer," he joked.

Familiar faces like Ágatha Ruiz de la Prada, Reyes Maroto, Brigitte Nielsen and Mattia Dessi, Sergio Scariolo, Marta Martínez-Bordiú, Lorenza Azcárraga and Nicaraguan artist Hernaldo Zúñiga enjoyed the show. Alejandro Gravier, Valeria Mazza's husband, celebrated his birthday at Starlite Occident Marbella surrounded by family and friends, including Prince Hubertus von Hohenlohe and Simona Gandolfi, Estefanía Luyk, Carla Pereyra and Diana Swarovski. After the concert, the Sessions space held the great Glamazonia party.
With Zucchero, Starlite Occident Marbella reaffirms its Auditorium as an international home for the great names of European blues that have connected Italy with the rest of the world for decades.
