ARCHIVE/Marbella 2024
Julio Iglesias JR
Julio Iglesias Jr. paid tribute to his father on August 30, 2024, at the Starlite Occident Marbella Sessions stage, applauded by his biggest fan, Isabel Preysler, on a very special night.
The only festival where all three Iglesias have performed
Starlite Occident Marbella hosted a very special date at Sessions with Julio Iglesias Jr. performing before the Marbella audience. The eldest son of Julio Iglesias and Isabel Preysler returned to the cantera after participating in the Starlite Foundation's charity Gala in 2023. His father, Julio Iglesias, performed at the festival's first four editions, the only place where he has shared the bill with his son Enrique twice. With this concert, Starlite Occident Marbella becomes the only festival in the world where all three have performed. "I know southern Spain very well. Since I was little I had the chance to summer here. For me, my brother Enrique and my sister Chabeli, Marbella was glory," he acknowledged.
Under the Covers, ballads and Rudy Pérez as producer
Charismatic, confident and extroverted, the singer-songwriter opened his concert with love for Marbella. At 51, his show was a recital where the most contemporary pop rhythms lived alongside classic romantic ballads. His setlist included songs from "Under the Covers", the most special project of his career, released in 2023 and produced by Rudy Pérez, the Cuban-American musician who also worked with his father. The album reinterprets with big band arrangements 10 love ballads by authors like Billy Joel, Marvin Gaye, Tears for Fears, Stevie Wonder or Ed Sheeran.
Momentos, Abrázame and Por el amor de una mujer in tribute
In tribute to his famous father, Julio Iglesias Jr. also performed some of his most representative songs: "Momentos", "Abrázame", "Me olvidé de vivir", "De niña a mujer", "La vida sigue igual" or "Hey". Also from "Timeless", the EP tribute to his father released in 2020, "Por el amor de una mujer" and "When I need you" stood out. "My father always tells me: the most beautiful songs of my life I wrote at 30. You're the only one I give permission to sing these songs", he confessed. Among the attendees, Isabel Preysler, Ariadna Romero, Álvaro Castillejo Preysler, Dr. Manuel Sans Segarra, Susana Uribarri, Marta Martínez-Bordiú, Bibiana Domit and Aless Gibaja.
With Julio Iglesias Jr., Starlite Occident Marbella consolidates a unique milestone: being the only festival in the world to have seen all three generations of the Iglesias dynasty perform under the same sky.
