Manuel Turizo lit up Starlite Occident Marbella on July 17, 2024, with his Auditorium debut, the most global bachata and a full-throttle day with Marilia and Juan Magán.
Full-throttle music with festival destination
The day began with full-throttle music: a surprise showcase by Marilia aboard the AVE bound for Málaga, the Manuel Turizo concert at the Starlite Occident Marbella Auditorium, and the closing with Juan Magán at Sessions. Renfe, the festival's official train, reinforces the commitment to sustainable travel. A train wrapped by Starlite Occident will travel to Málaga all summer. The first carriage premiered with Marilia's showcase, one of the members of the duo "Ella baila sola". Manuel Turizo debuted at the Auditorium after his Christmas by Starlite stop in Madrid.
La Bachata: 35 years after Juan Luis Guerra
35 years ago, Dominican Juan Luis Guerra had the world dancing bachata with "Ojalá que llueva café" and "Bachata Rosa". Manuel Turizo wasn't born yet — 11 years away. Today, the Colombian from Montería has become one of the main artists pushing bachata back onto international charts. He paid special attention to his latest record "2000" (2023): "La bachata", "El merengue" and "Éxtasis". He also played songs from "ADN" and "Dopamina": "Esperándote", "Culpables", "Amor en coma", "Quiéreme mientras se pueda", "Mala costumbre" and "La nota".
Una Lady como tú with a fan on stage
One of the highlights was performing "Una lady como tú", the song that broke him in 2016: "At first we only did covers, we never thought music could be a real path for us. And overnight, we made things from the heart and released a song that became a worldwide hit, the first of my career. Una lady como tú". He brought a young fan on stage to sing "La Bachata" together, and sang "Feliz Cumpleaños" to another follower. After the concert, Juan Magán continued the party at Sessions with "Bailando por ahí", "Por fin te encontré" and "Verano azul".
With Manuel Turizo, Starlite Occident Marbella reaffirms its Auditorium as a destination where the new generation's most global bachata finds the audience that celebrates its innovations of the Caribbean genre.
