Miguel Poveda

The work of Federico —as Miguel calls the Granada poet, whom he admires to the point of having his signature tattooed on his forearm— is the lighthouse inspiring the 12 songs of the repertoire. Accompanied by the great guitarist Jesús Guerrero, Poveda placed his voice at the service of Lorca's exquisite lyric. The evening opened with "¡Ay! -Caña", creating an enchantment that intoxicated those present. "Baladadilla de los Tres Ríos" sounded to the rhythm of a joyful cantiña from Cádiz. Also "La Soleá", a tribute to Manolo Caracol; malagueñas and verdiales of "Juan Breva"; the seguiriya "Retrato de Silverio Franconetti"; the bulerías "Paisaje" and "Canción de la Madre del Amargo"; the tangos of "Encuentro" and the rumba "Canción del Gitano Apaleado".

Miguel Poveda, who masters tempo and stage to perfection, demonstrated his commitment to flamenco. "I want to thank and highlight that flamenco is part of a festival like Starlite Occident Marbella, which brings international artists of all styles," he said. His latest performance was clear evidence of his talent and quality, qualities that earned the respect and affection of the audience. Antonio José, Valeria Mazza and Alejandro Gravier enjoyed the concert from the presidential box, alongside the festival's founder couple, Sandra García-Sanjuán and Ignacio Maluquer.
