Sheryl Crow
Sheryl Crow debuted at Starlite Occident Marbella on June 21, 2024, with her most iconic American rock, offering a setlist of unforgettable classics to a devoted audience.
American rock icon debuts at the cantera
Starlite Occident Marbella welcomed for the first time the American rock icon, Sheryl Crow. Rock star, composer, actress and activist, she started very young singing commercial jingles and was backing vocalist on Michael Jackson's Bad World Tour from 1987 to 1989. Her impressive list of hits and her attitude have not gone unnoticed by the new generation of songwriters, becoming a great reference for Olivia Rodrigo, Lorde, H.E.R and Sasami. "The first time I came here was in 1989. I was touring with Michael Jackson. And all of us, not Michael, took a trip up to the Rock of Gibraltar," Crow recalled with a smile.
All I Wanna Do, Strong enough and 50 million records
"Any artist would want to play here, in such a unique setting, and with a closeness that lets you see the audience's face. Starlite Occident is amazing. It's so beautiful and surrounded by nature… I love it!" she said before the show. Her creative spirit was channelled into songs that played incessantly throughout the last decade of the 20th century. She has sold more than 50 million albums and won nine Grammy Awards. Her songs again made the audience feel universal truths with "Real gone", "Strong enough", "If it makes you happy" or "Soak up the sun", generational anthems. Of course the unmistakable rhythm of "All I Wanna Do" rang out, sung in unison by the crowd.
Cat Stevens, The First Cut is the Deepest and familiar faces
"Cat Stevens played here last year. I love Cat Stevens. So we'll play a song we recorded of his called The First Cut is the Deepest," said Crow. Multiple celebrities enjoyed the unique experience under the stars: Brigitte Nielsen with husband Mattia Dessì, Nicole Kimpel, Marta Martínez-Bordiú, singer Nika, and Mexican businessman Ricardo Salinas with his wife María Laura Medina de Salinas. After the concert, Juan Magán continued at Sessions with "Bailando por ahí", "Por fin te encontré" or "Verano azul".
With Sheryl Crow, Starlite Occident Marbella confirms its Auditorium as an essential destination for the living American rock icons who have shaped the soundtrack of the 90s with their timeless talent.
