Siempre Así
Siempre Así filled Starlite Occident Marbella with joy on August 19, 2024, with their seventh appearance at the festival, paying tribute to 'Mahareta', their second album and most iconic record.
Siempre Mahareta: tribute to the group's most iconic album
For Siempre Así's members —Rafa Almarcha, Sandra Barón, Nacho Sabater, Paola Prieto, Ángel Rivas, Mayte Parejo and Mati Carnerero— playing Starlite Occident Marbella is like playing at home. "It's a privilege to have Starlite Occident in Andalusia. It's one of the main festivals in the world and we Andalusians should be very proud. For us it's an honour to come for the seventh time to this festival we love and where we feel at home," they said. The "Siempre Mahareta" tour pays tribute to their second album (1997), the most successful and emblematic of their career. They appeared at the Auditorium in their usual jeans and white shirt outfit, radiant.
Mahareta, Mis Versos and 30 years of rumbas and sevillanas
They performed the classics from "Mahareta" that brought them to the public in the late 90s: "Siempre Así", "Mahareta", "Mis Versos", "Mira Corazón", "Igual que la Primavera"... Rumba, sevillanas, flamenco-style guitars and voices in the rociera tradition. The Sevillians started in the early 90s when the ten original members met in the Triana Rociero Choir. More than 30 years on the road, 16 studio albums, more than a million copies sold and more than 1,500 concerts back their career. Also "Para volver a volver", "Se me va", "Te estoy queriendo tanto", "Esa Mujer" and the well-known cover of Frank Sinatra's "My Way".
Hubertus von Hohenlohe at Sessions and international faces
After the concert, Prince Hubertus von Hohenlohe offered a fun show at the Sessions stage. "This place is magic. My father discovered it 50 years ago with Placido Domingo. It's an honour to perform on this stage," he said. Son of actress Ira von Fürstenberg and Prince Alfonso de Hohenlohe, he dazzled with songs like "Noche Peligrosa", "La Lomana" or "Yo no sé cantar flamenco". Marta Martínez-Bordiú, Simona Gandolfi and Blanca Ares joined him dancing. The audience included Victoria Federica, Valeria Mazza, Sergio Scariolo, Nina Junot, Diana Swarovski, Makoke, Ramón Calderón or designer Jorge Redondo.
With Siempre Así, Starlite Occident Marbella confirms its Auditorium as the great fair of the south where Sevillian and Andalusian rumba finds the audience that sings and dances it under the stars.
