There was a time, in the late 80s and early 90s, when boybands dominated global sales charts. The most famous and long-lasting, Take That, performed twice at the Starlite Occident Marbella Auditorium to the delight of an audience that confirmed that, 35 years later, they're still in full form. "Hello Starlite Occident. We're so glad to see you! We're in southern Spain and the sky is gorgeous," they said. Originally a quintet, Take That appeared with their current trio lineup since 2011. Solid, rejuvenated and with voices still treasuring the magic of their beginnings: Gary Barlow, Mark Owen and Howard Donald.
This Life Under The Stars: 45 million records live
The trio presented their latest album "This Life" (2023) with singles like "Windows" or the title track. Under the name "This Life Under the Stars", they delivered a run through their extensive iconic discography of countless number ones. "Pray", "Relight my Fire", "Everything Changes", "Back for Good", "Patience", "Shine", "Rule the World" or "How Deep is your Love" were some of the tracks that took fans on a nostalgic journey. With over 45 million records sold worldwide, Take That is living history of British pop.
Euros Spain vs England and familiar faces
Take That united Spaniards and English during the Euros final: "We see Spanish and English flags, but we don't want fights tonight, OK? We're all together here and it's beautiful". "Well played, Spain", they acknowledged at the end of the match. From the presidential box enjoyed sisters Nicole and Barbara Kimpel, French singer Frédéric Lerner, Argentine actress Laura Laprida with her mother María Eugenia Fernández Rousse (one of Julio Iglesias' Golden Triplets). After the show, the festival celebrated the Spanish football team's victory with a party at Sessions.
With Take That, Starlite Occident Marbella confirms its Auditorium as a historic destination for the great British pop legends who return to Spain with the intact strength of their 35-year career.
