Europe brought four decades of rock to the Starlite Occident Marbella Auditorium on July 8, 2025, with their 'Run For Your Lives' tour, walking through the anthems that shaped an entire generation.
The original Swedish lineup, intact 40 years on
Starlite Occident Marbella vibrated to the high guitars of Europe, a band that defined the 80s and continues to prove their weight on stage. The original lineup —Joey Tempest on vocals, John Norum on guitar, Mic Michaeli on keyboards, John Levén on bass and Ian Haugland on drums— returned to Marbella to make clear they were not here for a simple visit. Since their beginnings in Stockholm in 1979, Europe combined rock with their own touch that earned them a place on the international scene, until "The Final Countdown" catapulted them to global fame in 1986.
Run For Your Lives: from classic catalogue to the present
The setlist revisited the anthems that marked a generation, but also showed that Europe does not live on the past alone. Tracks like "The Final Countdown", "Rock the Night" and "Carrie" lifted the audience, while songs from albums such as "Out of This World" and "Prisoners in Paradise" reinforced that their career is far more than 80s nostalgia. "What's interesting about Europe is that we're still the same guys. We met as teenagers and we're still the same kids on stage," Joey Tempest said moments before going on.
Familiar faces and a night under the stars
Their sound remains direct and without artifice, with a show that places them as a pillar of European rock. Nicole and Barbara Kimpel, Frédéric Lerner, Rosario Mohedano and Marta Martínez-Bordiú were among the familiar faces unwilling to miss Europe at Starlite Occident Marbella, enjoying a magical night under the stars that confirmed the band is still going strong, hungry for the stage.
With Europe, Starlite Occident Marbella reaffirms its Auditorium as one of the European stages where great international rock still rings out with day-one power.
