Israel Fernandez & Tomatito
Israel Fernández and Tomatito unleashed the purest essence of flamenco at Starlite Occident Marbella on August 22, 2025, uniting the guitar legend with the renewing voice of today's cante.
Tomatito, living flamenco legend and Paco de Lucía's disciple
Starlite Occident Marbella turned into a tablao to host a historic flamenco double bill. The prodigious guitar of Tomatito, a living legend and guardian of tradition, and the unmistakable voice of Israel Fernández, the cantaor embodying the genre's renewal, joined for a show that overflowed art and emotion. José Fernández Torres, Tomatito, was born in Almería at the heart of a family marked by music. A disciple of Paco de Lucía and eternal companion of Camarón de la Isla, he has taken flamenco to stages all over the world with five decades of career behind him. He was joined on stage by his son José del Tomate.
Tangos, bulerías and fandangos of a myth
On the Starlite Occident Marbella stage, Tomatito delivered a concert that confirmed his status as a myth. His hands ran across the guitar with the precision and emotion that have defined him for years. The Auditorium heard tangos, bulerías, rondeñas and fandangos played with an elegance only he can imprint. Every touch, every silence, built a discourse of its own with no need for words. With closeness and no artifice, he turned the night into a masterclass, reminding that flamenco is feeling, compás and authenticity.
Israel Fernández: renewal with roots and duende
At 35, Israel Fernández has reached the present through a path of experiences, stages and learning. With five albums released, his big leap came with "Amor" (2020), recorded with Diego del Morao, a record that opened the door to a Latin Grammy nomination. At Starlite Occident Marbella, he opened with alegrías and continued with tangos, bulerías and fandangos that bore his stamp, defending purity without artifice. Backed by Diego del Morao and an impeccable flamenco ensemble with chorus, handclaps and cajón, he delivered a repertoire that won over the Auditorium with handclaps and jaleos. Among the crowd, rapper Elio Toffana and influencer Ana Peinado enjoyed a night full of magic and duende.
With Israel Fernández and Tomatito, Starlite Occident Marbella reaffirms its Auditorium as an international tablao where the most authentic flamenco finds an audience that respects and celebrates it.
