Carlos Santana needs no introduction, no LED screens, no fireworks. Carlos Santana is living history of the most spiritual rock. And that is what was breathed at Starlite Occident Marbella, a direct journey into the soul of Latin rock, with a stop at Woodstock, a detour through San Francisco and a finale in Marbella. Born in Mexico and raised in the United States, he fuses Latin rhythms with blues, jazz and psychedelic rock like no one else, creating a unique style that catapulted him to global fame at Woodstock in 1969. Over more than five decades he has harvested multiple GRAMMY Awards, sold over 100 million records and collaborated across every genre.

Oneness Tour: from Soul Sacrifice to Smooth at the cantera

The night started right at the beginning: with "Soul Sacrifice", congas on fire and Woodstock projected on screen. Without pauses, he linked "Jingo" and "Evil Ways", keeping the energy high while the band followed with millimetric precision. Beside him, Ray Greene and Andy Vargas gave voice to the classics, while his wife, drummer Cindy Blackman, delivered the night's most powerful solos. The crowd rose to "Black Magic Woman" and "Oye cómo va", key pieces of Santana's legacy. There was also room for the gentler Santana: "Maria Maria" and "Put Your Lights On" lit up the venue with mobile-phone screens.

Smooth, a message and familiar faces

In between, "Hope You're Feeling Better", "Samba pa ti" and an overflowing version of "Corazón espinado" reminded everyone that this man, at 78, keeps sharpening every note as if it were the last. Without speaking much, he delivered his message: peace, compassion and music as an engine for change. He closed with "Smooth" and left without fanfare, like someone who no longer needs to prove anything. "It's an honour to be here," the Mexican artist said. Familiar faces in the crowd included Valeria Mazza and Luján Argüelles, enjoying a historic concert.

With Santana, Starlite Occident Marbella once again confirms that its Auditorium is one of the stages where music, when it is real, never grows old.
