The Kooks
The Kooks left their mark on Starlite Occident Marbella on July 30, 2025, with a vibrant indie britpop set that filled the Auditorium with catchy riffs and sing-along choruses.
British indie arrives at the cantera with The Kooks
The Starlite Occident Marbella audience travelled to the UK with The Kooks. The iconic British band, with their fresh, accessible indie rock sound, delighted a crowd longing for a 2000s-style night of catchy riffs and sing-along choruses. The Kooks emerged in Brighton, UK, in 2004, and quickly positioned themselves as one of the key bands of British indie rock in the 2000s. Their debut album, "Inside In/Inside Out" (2006), catapulted them to success with hits like "Naïve" and "She Moves in Her Own Way", mixing pop melodies with raw guitars and a youthful spirit.
Luke Pritchard, magnetic frontman and sing-along anthems
With almost two decades on stage, Luke Pritchard remains that magnetic frontman who jumps, dances and clings to every melody as if it were the first time. Anthems like "She Moves In Her Own Way", "Seaside" and of course "Naïve" turned into a collective karaoke that transformed the cantera into an indie club with a summer flavour. There was also room for their more recent stage, with tracks from "10 Tracks To Echo In The Dark", showing the more electronic, elegant side The Kooks have added to their repertoire without losing their identity. Inspired by The Kinks, The Beatles, The Strokes and Supergrass, they keep a recognisable sound.
Naïve closes a night of jumps and melancholy
The connection with the audience was real and Pritchard kept joking between songs, encouraging the crowd to sing every "oh oh oh" with the complicity of someone who knows these songs are tied to memories of festivals, road trips and endless nights. The sharp riffs, galloping drums and the mix of melancholy and euphoria that defines their songs turned every track into a youth injection. The closing with "Naïve" left the echo of a Starlite Occident Marbella turned into a dance floor, with fans shouting every line of one of British indie's greatest anthems.
With The Kooks, Starlite Occident Marbella confirms its Auditorium as a natural stage for the britpop indie that keeps writing memories generation after generation.
