Iván Ferreiro

The set, titled "Hoy x Ayer", covered his career from Los Piratas to his solo years. "I've gathered the songs I most felt like singing from these thirty-five years," he explained. "There are lots of Piratas songs, there's El Equilibrio, there are the 80s, I've added some harder or stranger ones, like Teching, and I've mixed it all together." Ferreiro does not arrange the show by period; he links the songs "in the way that feels most moving to me". The format is just as direct: "I think people pay to hear songs, not to hear me go on. I play the concerts straight through, no encores or anything."

Before the show, Ferreiro explained how he sees his profession: "I've always thought music is a beautiful craft, one you learn." He rejected the idea that he had chased a dream: "What I did was understand that there was a job in something I liked." In his view, talking about dreams come true plays down the effort and the learning. And he added a factor that, he said, is rarely mentioned: "There's a part that is craft, work, and another part that is the luck of being liked by others", something that "deep down, doesn't depend on you".
