Miguel Ríos
Miguel Ríos returned to the stage at Starlite Occident Marbella on July 25, 2026, medically cleared after having to cancel several concerts. It was his fifth visit, with a set spanning more than six decades of career.
Back on stage after medical clearance
With almost 65 years of career behind him, Miguel Ríos spoke to the audience from the very start: "You haven't neglected me for a second and I'm eternally grateful. I took a terrible knock and had to cancel some concerts. I've now been given the all-clear and I was really looking forward to seeing you". He called those filling the Cantera his "patrons". Of the venue he said: "It's like my home. Starlite Occident is that summer gig I'm always hoping they'll call me to do. This place is beautiful and a haven of peace". He also described it as "the coolest and most legendary venue in the Mediterranean".
Vuelvo a Granada, for his sisters
The Granada-born singer spotted his two sisters in the audience and dedicated "Vuelvo a Granada" to them, the first song he ever wrote, words and music, with the stands joining in on every line. He also presented "El último vals", his latest album, in a set that ran from "Bienvenidos" to "Santa Lucía" by way of "No Estás Sola", originally written as a lullaby for his daughter. He invited the Cantera to become, for one song, "Manolos y Manolas García", a nod to fellow singer-songwriter Manolo García.
The band, the crew and Himno a la Alegría
He was joined by Samuel Rosso on drums, Luis Brown on piano and José Cortés on guitar, with Luis Prado guesting on "Estoy gordo". Before leaving he shared the applause with sound engineer Manolo Camacho, Jorge Gómez on monitors, Arturo on lights and Robert on the teleprompter, as well as Teto and Virginia's production team, and thanked the Starlite Occident team. "Al-Ándalus", "Insurrección" and a collective "Himno a la Alegría" closed the concert.
Miguel Ríos chose Starlite Occident Marbella to sing live again, with his family in the stands and the whole Cantera joining in on "Himno a la Alegría".
