Zucchero
Zucchero played Starlite Occident Marbella on July 28, 2026, with a warm concert told in Italian, Spanish and English, whose most moving moment came with "Miserere" and the memory of Luciano Pavarotti.
"It's as if I were at home, with friends"
The Italian artist, one of the great names of European blues and rock, took the stage at the Nagüeles quarry with ease and warmth. "Thank you so much for being here. It's a pleasure, it's crazy, a fantastic setting", he told the audience, switching languages with humour. "When I sit here it's as if I were at home, with friends", he added, explaining that much of the way he behaves on stage comes from a simple wish to socialise with the people listening.
"Miserere", Pavarotti and a 1986 song played live for the first time
Zucchero explained why he sings in Italian all over the world, "because it's the original", and recalled his Spanish-language collaborations with Maná, Alejandro Sanz, Toquinho and Rosana. "I love that language, it's sexy, like Italian", he admitted before performing "Un soffio caldo", which he introduced as "a song of freedom". The quarry fell silent for "Miserere", the song that linked him to Luciano Pavarotti, which ended with a photograph of the two projected on stage. He also performed, for the first time live, one of his own songs from 1986: he had waited so many years, he said laughing, because with time "the soul hurts less".
Antonio Banderas, celebrating at the quarry
The night also included a family celebration in the audience. Antonio Banderas chose Starlite Occident to celebrate the birthday of Nicole and Barbara Kimpel, something the Málaga-born actor has turned into a habit: he also celebrates his own birthday here every year, coinciding with the Starlite Occident Gala. Concert and celebration shared the same evening, which then went on until dawn.
With anthems, anecdotes and a photo with Pavarotti in the background, Zucchero gave Starlite Occident Marbella a concert told in the first person.
