Julio Iglesias Jr. moves hearts at Starlite Occident 2024

A tribute to his father and a life of music on the Sessions stage

Julio Iglesias Jr. delivered one of the most heartfelt nights at Starlite Occident 2024, in a concert that was more than a performance: it was an ode to music, family, and memory. Accompanied by his partner Ariadna Romero, cousin Álvaro Castillejo Preysler and with his mother, Isabel Preysler, watching proudly from the front row, the Spanish artist charmed the crowd with his charisma, warmth and deep reverence for his father’s legacy.

My father always tells me: son, the most beautiful songs of my life, the ones you are lucky to sing today, I wrote at 30. Learn the lyrics well… You’re the only one I allow to sing them,” he shared tenderly, touching everyone present.

From the first notes, Julio brought a fresh and youthful energy, reminiscing about childhood summers in Marbella and sharing stories about touring with his father, who would mischievously bring him on stage. At 51, with his ever-present smile, he proved that music runs in his veins and that he knows how to touch hearts.

The setlist was a journey through nostalgia, romance and elegance. Songs from his EP “Timeless” and the album “Under the Covers” gave a big band twist to love ballads by Billy Joel, Stevie Wonder or Marvin Gaye, while timeless hits from his father like “Me olvidé de vivir”, “De niña a mujer”, “Hey” and “Por el amor de una mujer” were met with standing ovations and heartfelt singalongs.

With his own voice and a deep respect for his heritage, Julio Iglesias Jr. proved himself a complete artist, one who can move and entertain with ease. His performance at the Sessions stage not only paid tribute to a legend, but also affirmed his unique musical identity.

Isabel Preysler, visibly moved, applauded every song with pride. Familiar faces like Manuel Sans Segarra, Susana Uribarri, Marta Martínez-Bordiú, Bibiana Domit and Aless Gibaja also enjoyed this unforgettable night.

Starlite Occident has now become the only festival in the world to host performances by Julio Iglesias, Enrique Iglesias and Julio Jr., marking a historic milestone and sealing a musical legacy under the stars of Marbella.
