A night of sharp guitars and electrifying nostalgia under the stars
Starlite Occident roared with pure rock energy as Europe took the stage, the legendary Swedish band that defined the 80s and still delivers an electrifying live experience after four decades.
The original lineup —Joey Tempest, John Norum, Mic Michaeli, John Levén and Ian Haugland— returned to Marbella, proving their energy and chemistry remain as strong as ever. From the first chord, the quarry lit up with classics like “The Final Countdown”, “Rock the Night” and “Carrie”, all passionately sung by the crowd.
The setlist went beyond their greatest hits, featuring gems from albums like Out of This World and Prisoners in Paradise, reminding everyone that Europe thrives on more than just 80s nostalgia.
“We’re still the same guys who met as teenagers and still enjoy playing together on stage“, Joey Tempest shared before the show, reflecting the bond that has kept them at the top for 40 years.
In the audience were Nicole and Barbara Kimpel, Frédéric Lerner, Rosario Mohedano and Marta Martínez-Bordiú, all there to witness this milestone rock night at the world’s leading boutique festival.
The night ended at Sessions, Starlite Occident’s club space, with a vibrant after party that kept the magic alive until late.
