CARLOS VIVES, THE STAR OF VALLENATO

Carlos Vives, one of the most representative figures of Latin music and creator of a new sound based on the traditional music of the Caribbean coast and northern Colombia, will return to Starlite Occident on Tuesday, July 16th.

The two-time Grammy Award winner and 17-time Latin Grammy winner focuses his work on the study, knowledge and dissemination of Colombian identity in its many facets and its complex diversity.

The Colombian singer, actor, composer and entrepreneur began in 1993 with the creation of the band La Provincia, a project as a tribute to the musicians of the most remote and rural regions of the Caribbean and as a laboratory for new talents of contemporary music. With it, he has traveled around the world, garnering international recognition.

With more than 20 million albums sold worldwide, he is considered a pioneer of the new Colombian and Latin American sound. Many of his songs are true worldwide anthems such as ‘La gota fría’, ‘Fruta fresca’, ‘La bicicleta’ in collaboration with Shakira or ‘Robarte un beso‘, with Sebastián Yatra.

Winner of the Ondas Award for his contribution to Latin American music and the Gold Award for his more than 25-year career, among other awards.  As his most beloved slogan, ‘united in diversity’, indicates, Carlos has marked entire generations through music and the promotion of Colombian culture.

An appointment with the music of Carlos Vives, the artist who modernized one of the best artistic expressions of his country -Colombia-, which will take place on the Auditorium stage of Starlite Occident, next Tuesday, July 16th.
