A double bill of emotion, virtuosity and homage to Mother Nature
The expressive power of Lila Downs and the virtuosity of violinist Ara Malikian moved the audience at Starlite Occident during a night defined by cultural fusion and musical brilliance. The Auditorium hosted two unforgettable shows blending tradition, modernity and authenticity under Marbella’s stars.
Mexican singer Lila Downs made her Starlite Occident debut with her world tour “Dos Corazones”, performing tracks from her latest album “La Sánchez” alongside classics from her 30-year career. “Starlite Occident is a beautiful place. Nature is sacred to me. I grew up in a setting like this, and in my culture, Mother Nature is deeply revered,” she shared emotionally.
With a magnetic stage presence, the singer and anthropologist delivered a powerful vocal journey through rancheras, northern cumbias and corridos, performing songs like “Son de Chile”, “Clandestino”, “El Último Trago” and “Cariñito”, blending roots and innovation.
Ara Malikian, returning for his fourth appearance at the festival, presented “Ara”, a show inspired by his son Kairo, who sparked the creative force behind the project. “This album is a tribute to the child I couldn’t be and dreamed of being. It honors those who are as free as birds,” said the artist.
With his violin as an extension of his soul, Ara Malikian guided the audience through emotional landscapes with an eclectic set, enhanced by immersive lighting and masterful technique. From the first note, his energy and sensitivity captivated the crowd.
Starlite Universe also made its mark that night, unveiling its Spring-Summer 2024 collection at the VII Marbella Fashion Show. Founder Sandra García-Sanjuán received the Estrella Costa del Sol award for her business career.
