Marlon and Paula Mattheus light up Starlite Occident 2024

A night of rising talent, vibrant pop and shared emotions

Starlite Occident 2024 hosted a very special evening with the double concert of Marlon and Paula Mattheus, two of the most promising names in Spanish pop. It was a celebration of heartfelt lyrics, catchy melodies and youthful energy, where emerging talent shone under the stars of La Cantera.

Kicking off the night was Paula Mattheus, returning to the Auditorium after her debut as an opening act in 2021. Armed with her signature guitar, the Basque singer-songwriter showed why she’s one of today’s rising stars. Songs like “Ya No Me Joden la Fiesta”, “Valientes de Sofá”, “Me Pasaste Tú”, “Vale La Pena” and “Chica Formal” resonated with raw honesty and instantly connected with the audience.

With a raspy voice, natural vibrato and lyrics grounded in everyday life, Paula stirred emotions with every verse, weaving introspective moments with bursts of joy. Highlights included “Me presento”, her latest single, and collaborations with Rozalén (“La Hipoteca”) and Pol 3.14 (“Viaje Sin Vuelta”).

Then came Marlon, bringing their energetic, feel-good pop-rock to the stage in what marked their fifth consecutive appearance at Starlite Occident. Led by Adrián Roma, the Asturian trio presented their album “Que se Caiga el Cielo” with powerful tracks like “XAO”, “Comértelo todo”, “De L.A. a Nueva York!!”, “Tequila y Candela”, “Con Uñas y Dientes”, “Mi Macarena”, “96” and “Me Supo a Poco”.

A standout moment came with their duet “24/7” performed with Paula Mattheus, who returned to the stage to share knowing glances and heartfelt connection with the band and audience.

Marlon’s rebellious, festive and emotive spirit was evident in songs like “Superman”, “De Perreo” and “Pirata”, cementing their status as one of the most exciting bands in Spanish pop.

After the double concert, DJ Nano took over the Sessions stage, extending the celebration with his unmistakable electronic beats. The night was also graced by personalities like Lorena Gómez, Pablo Garna and Paula Koops, all soaking in a magical musical evening.
