A flamenco night of roots, poetry and emotion at the Auditorium
Miguel Poveda returned to Starlite Occident 2024 with a show rooted in cante jondo and inspired by the work of Federico García Lorca, offering a powerful connection to flamenco tradition and Andalusian poetry. Joined on stage by maestro Jesús Guerrero on guitar, the Catalan singer presented his new album “Poema del Cante Jondo”, moving a captivated audience.
“Even though I’ve performed many times at Starlite Occident, it’s always a great responsibility. Just being here tonight fills me with love and gratitude,” said the artist to a wave of applause. Recognized as one of flamenco’s most unique voices, Poveda reaffirmed his commitment to honoring tradition through a contemporary lens.

The repertoire explored Lorca’s iconic poetry through a refined selection of flamenco styles, from soleá and malagueñas to bulerías, tangos and seguiriyas. Songs like “Ay – Caña”, “Baladadilla de los Tres Ríos”, “La Soleá”, “Juan Breva”, “Retrato de Silverio Franconetti”, “Paisaje”, “Encuentro” and “Cancion del Gitano Apaleado” were performed with masterful intensity, enveloping the audience in a hypnotic atmosphere.
The concert was also a tribute to flamenco legends, such as Manolo Caracol and Silverio Franconetti, and a celebration of Lorca’s legacy, whom Poveda deeply admires. His voice, filled with duende and authenticity, soared with every note as an ode to memory and identity.
Familiar faces like Antonio José, Valeria Mazza and Alejandro Gravier watched the performance from the presidential box, joined by festival founders Sandra García-Sanjuán and Ignacio Maluquer, witnessing a night to remember.
With this concert, Starlite Occident 2024 reinforces its commitment to musical diversity, embracing everything from international pop to the deepest roots of flamenco, in a unique setting where nature, culture and emotion blend seamlessly.
