Simple Minds and Yng Lvcas light up Starlite Occident 2024

A night of musical legacy and innovation under the stars

Starlite Occident experienced an unforgettable evening of contrasts with two international stars: Simple Minds and Yng Lvcas, in a double bill that blended musical history and contemporary flair on the summer’s most exclusive stage.

Simple Minds, pioneers of stadium pop-rock, returned for the third time to the world’s leading boutique festival, with a sold-out concert spanning nearly five decades of hits. The legendary Scottish band, led by Jim Kerr and Charlie Burchill, ignited the Auditorium with anthems like “Alive and Kicking”, “Don’t You Forget About Me”, “Promise You a Miracle” and “Belfast Child”.

What a great pleasure to be here once again at Starlite Occident,” greeted Jim Kerr, the charismatic frontman who won over the audience with energy and warmth. They also performed tracks from recent albums like “Direction of the Heart” (2022) and “Walk Between Worlds” (2018), proving their sound is as current as ever.

The Auditorium turned into a cathedral of pop-rock, with a fully engaged crowd that included Antonio Banderas and Nicole Kimpel watching from the presidential box, alongside festival founders Sandra García-Sanjuán and Ignacio Maluquer.

After Simple Minds, Sessions transformed into a massive open-air nightclub to welcome Yng Lvcas, one of the most promising artists in Mexican reggaeton.

With his trademark sunglasses and “bad boy” swagger, Yng Lvcas performed fan favorites like “La Santa”, “Tony Montana”, “3PLEX” (with Enrique Iglesias), and of course, the global hit “La Bebé” recorded with Peso Pluma, which has surpassed a billion streams on Spotify.

Sessions became the heart of the boldest party of the summer, with an electrifying atmosphere where nature, technology and urban beats fused until dawn, reaffirming Starlite Occident as a cutting-edge reference.
